This page gives an overview on the evidence-based, integrative, BioPsychoSocial approach we take to treating mental health conditions at Palladium Private. It outlines the therapeutic modalities our psychologists and psychotherapists selectively apply for each client during and beyond the residential component of their tailored treatment.
Please note, we limit guest numbers to a maximum of 18 to best facilitate our Therapeutic Community Model (TC Model) and create a close-knit, cohesive group experience for each client’s stay. There are certain presentations/histories we do not treat at Palladium Private as they unbalance the cohesion of the group as a whole. Our Admissions Team identify these presentations during the thorough screening process, and will refer cases on for further assessment where required.
Palladium Private is not an acute treament facility, however we liaise with a network of medical practitioners (physicians, psychiatrists, allied health professionals etc.) who collaborate with us to deliver our integrative, holistic approach to transformative healing. Our Clinical Director is Georgia Ray, who can be contacted by email with complex questions not addressed on this website.
Palladium Private acknowledges that for some clients, prescription medication, supplements and medicines are a part of their mental health treatment plan or health treatment plan.
It is a condition of stay that clients are able to self-manage their medication dosage in alignment with the Palladium Private Medication Policy.
Palladium’s Medication Policy is in alignment with the Department of Health, AHPRA regulations and the standards set by the Therapeutic Goods Administration. Palladium Private is subject to unscheduled checks by the Department of Health.
At Palladium Private we recognise the complex interplay of human conditions and the sufferance that comes from an between striving for connectedness and the creative adjustments (or coping strategies) we develop throughout our life. These creative adjustments may come in the form of substance abuse, anxiety, depression or behavioural addictions, which pave the way to remaining traumatised by past experiences and future triggers.
At Palladium Private we take a holistic, integrative approach to treatment. We focus on helping our clients to regain balance between all aspects of their life – psychological, biological, chemical, neurological, medical, educational, emotional, spiritual, financial, social, familial and nutritional strategies to identify, combat and eradicate the root cause(s) of their mental health issues.
The biological side is addressed by cleansing the client’s diet, personal training, yoga, outdoor group activities, access to sporting facilities (swimming pool, gym, sauna, spring-fed magnesium pool and fitness circuit), and hot-and-cold therapy.
The psychological side is addressed by an intensive course of three-times weekly individual 90-minute psychotherapy sessions, daily group psychotherapy and communications groups, art therapy, meditation and mindfulness.
The social side is addressed intrinsically as client’s participate in our TC Model retreat setting, where all activities are an opportunity to learn from interaction, connection, participation and vulnerability. This facilitates the establishment of peer support where clients begin relating to other group member’s experiences, story and struggles. They then allow vulnerability, begin feeling supported by the group members, and are then able to support others in their therapy journey. The TC Model allows clients to gently and naturally discover relativity with other’s experiences, vulnerability, triggers, challenges and recovery strategies.
Since 2003, more than 5,500 people from all over Australia have completed a Palladium program and achieved previously unimagined levels of self-mastery and understanding. Our results are achieved using a range of evidence-based therapies and treatment modalities, selected by our diversely-trained and qualified therapists to target the individual’s needs, life circumstances, personality profile, identified challenges and desired goals.
Our therapy team will curate an integrative program that brings together the best evidence-based therapies with holistic therapies to achieve the results desired by the client and their treating professsional. These may include, but are not limited to:
Each client spends two dedicated hours with one of our Duty Managers in the lead-up to their return home, formulating a customised Aftercare Plan to best set them up for reintegration back into their life at home. (For full details and inclusions, please see “Our Program“ and scroll down to the Aftercare section).
The client and their psychotherapist will then arrange a calendar of telephone or video calls (a total of 4 hours, usually delivered in 8 x 30 minute session) in which the client will continue to be supported in implementing the awareness, knowledge, strategies & tools acquired during their residential stay. Duty Managers will also have scheduled check-ins with the client, continuing to support them with their reintegration, and forging relationships with local specialists, support groups and therapeutic activities.
The key focus of the Aftercare Plan is to engage with local supports so upon returning home, all appointments are made and relationships established.
We encourage you to call us and speak directly with our Clinical Director, Georgia Ray, regarding any questions you may have to do with our program structure, approach and therapies.
